How does the selection process work, and when will I be informed of the outcome?
The evaluation process takes place during the autumn. Notifications are sent out in early December.
When can the funding start if the application is approved?
Funding can begin in January of the following year.
Can I transfer my grant if I change institutions?
Yes, the grant can be transferred as long as the project remains the same.

When can I request the grant funds?
At the start of the project in the year following approval.
You state that the budget should cover the project’s first year, but our total budget exceeds SEK 600,000. How should we complete this section?
Provide the full budget for the project’s first year, even if it exceeds SEK 600,000. This helps us assess the scope of the project.
Can I submit my application in English?
Yes, that is perfectly fine.
Can individuals with only a master’s degree apply for grants?
No, our grants are intended for research group leaders who obtained their doctorate within the past ten years and have developed an independent line of research.
Is a researcher holding, for example, an ERC grant or a Wallenberg Academy Fellow grant eligible to apply?
Researchers who already have an individual grant exceeding SEK 1 million per year or a total grant portfolio exceeding SEK 3 million per year (excluding salary funding) at the time of a first-time application are not eligible to apply for funding from the Åke Wiberg Foundation. This restriction does not apply to applications for renewed funding for years 2 or 3 of a previously approved grant.
What is the maximum allowed overhead (INDI), and can it be added on top of the requested amount?
The maximum allowed overhead (INDI) is 18%. This must be included in the total requested amount and cannot be added on top.
Do you provide funding for salaries for postdoctoral researchers in the research group?
Grants can be used to fund salaries or fellowships for members of the research group in accordance with the institution’s and university’s conditions. However, grants cannot be used to fund the applicant’s own salary.
