Grants for Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences

The Åke Wiberg Foundation provides support for humanities and social science research.

Grants are given to researchers for printing and production costs for scientific publishing, organizing conferences, and as personal research grants to researchers holding a PhD degree for scientific advancement. The latter can finance research time or other costs for a specified research task that does not form part of the applicant’s regular activities within employment at a university or college.
The foundation also awards annually, following nominations from deans at invited faculties, a three-year grant (Åke Wiberg’s Major Grant in Humanities/Social Sciences) that finances a postdoctoral position in a specified field.

The application must contain:

Project plan (max. 8000 characters)
CV for applicant (max. 8000 characters)
If applicable, bibliography (max. 8000 characters) with the applicant’s identification of the five most important scientific publications
Budget plan showing costs for the project with a complete statement of other grants and the disposition of any previous grants from the Åke Wiberg Foundation
For printing grants, a quote from a publisher and the name of a subject expert who will submit a statement by e-mail directly to the foundation’s office must be attached
Grants can be granted up to 400,000 SEK.

The foundation does not usually finance the following purposes:
