Åke Wiberg – A Life in Service to Society

Politician & Industrialist

Åke Wiberg (1902–1963) was a highly successful politician and industrialist from the 1930s to the 1960s. As the owner of Malmö Strumpfabrik and a member of parliament, he combined business acumen with a strong commitment to society and social responsibility. He also had a deep cultural interest, particularly in the arts. Over time, he became a patron of culture, supporting various projects and safeguarding Sweden’s cultural heritage with the same energy and determination he brought to his political and industrial pursuits.

A Legacy as a Champion of Knowledge

In 1953, Åke Wiberg made a significant donation to establish a foundation bearing his name. His goal was to provide lasting support for research and to aid in the care and education of children and young people. More than 70 years later, the foundation continues to work steadily toward these visions, ensuring the development of new knowledge and helping many young people in Sweden toward a better life.
